Flashback Friday – 1/8/10 – Cornball Edition

Happy Friday All! Its the end of the first full week of the New Year. How are those resolutions coming along? You quit yet?!?! Lol, just kidding. Anyway, today’s Flashback Friday has a theme to it. I call it, the “Cornball Edition”. Why? Just watch the videos and listen to the songs and you tell me! The majority of the songs I post every Friday, at least in my opinion, are songs you can still rock to and proudly sing out loud or nod your head to without shame. Can’t say the same about the videos posted today, lol. I dare all you Fif Followers, to blast the songs I’m posting out of your car stereo or loudly through your headphones at the gym and see if you get any side eye looks, haha. Today’s blog features infamous throwbacks from Kriss Kross, MC Hammer, Milli Vanilli, Sir Mix A Lot and Vanilla Ice. Ok, I won’t lie–I bumped some Kriss Kross as a youngin’ and they were a hot little duo when they were out, but looking back now I still have to wonder why their mamas let them walk around with their clothes on backwards all the time. SMH. Show of hands for anyone out there who owned pair of those Hammer style parachute pants!! Those of you who still own them, I’m praying for you. I wanted to post the video “Girl You Know Its True” by Milli Vanilli, because its just terrible, but it didnt embed correctly, so here’s a warning for all you young males out there who are a part of the skinny jeans fad: be mindful of just how tight your pants are getting or else you could end up wearing spandex like pants like Milli Vanilli and nobody wants that. I can do this all day, but I will leave you all to watch the videos and take it back for a few minutes to ask yourself, “what were they thinking?”. Comment, suggest and vote for  the corniest video/song of the day! Have a blessed weekend! 🙂

Happy Friday All! How is everyone’s Friday going? Most likely wonderfully because it IS Friiiiiiidaaaaay after all and most likely payday! With that said, I will gladly set up an account for donations for all this internet DJing I do for y’all if you want, :D. Today’s blog features Case, Lost Boyz, Oaktown 357, Tony Terry and Warren G. Song of the day though in my opinion, goes to Oaktown 357. That beat, the rhymes, the dances, the style had me LOL and made me think, what the h*ll were they thinking?? Lol. I won’t knock it though, thats what was hot back then. And just watching the Warren G video has me realizing that Nate Dogg was the West Coast version of T-Pain back in the day. Minus the Autotune, top hat and Big A$$ Chain of course, lol. Enjoy today’s songs, vote, suggest, comment and have a blessed weekend. 🙂

Flashback Friday – 10/30

DFF_FF_longHappy Friday All! It’s Halloween Eve, so I should post some scary songs for the occasion, but I think Tone Loc’s voice is scary enough, so I’ll leave well enough alone. I have posted up, as I have done every Friday since late April, five random Hip Hop and R&B videos that must be at least 10 years old. Today, Jody Watley, Kool Mo Dee, Next, Monica and the aforementioned Tone Loc grace this Friday’s blog. I actually posted Monica today because I was watching a little bit of her Keyshia Colesque reality show in BET called “Still Standing”, which is also the title of her upcoming unreleased album. I remember the song I posted by her in particular as  kinda of anthem for all PMSing females– real talk, lol. I would love Monica’s videos because she always had the cutest dudes in them, haha. I admittedly always thought the song I posted by Next was corny, but I put it up because it got tons of spins when it was released, so thats why its up, lol. Please enjoy the rest of the videos I didn’t speak on, as well as commenting, voting and suggesting. Have a safe and fun Halloween weekend and as always, have a blessed one. I’m out! 🙂

*Exits outta the firescape*

Jody Watley – Looking For A New Love(1987)

Kool Mo Dee – I Go To Work (1989)

Monica – (Don’t Take It Personal) Just One Of Dem Days  (1995)

Next – Butta Love (1996)

Tone Loc – Wild Thing (1989)
